Are You an Over Thinker?

Do you find yourself dwelling on decisions and in turn, finding you can’t decide at all?

If so, you could have analysis paralysis.

Analysis paralysis is the state of over-analysing (or over-thinking) a situation so that a decision or action is never taken; therefore paralysing the outcome. This state of over-thinking leads the individual to a point where a decision is never made, leaving them stuck in a paralysed state of inaction.

Some people find themselves stuck in this state when they begin to over analyse and strategise every single option they can take. Instead of making a decision, they move back and forth between the options, continually weighing up the pros and cons. Which job should I choose? What event should I go to? Which contracts should I apply for?

It stops them from moving forward and actually taking action!

Instead, they are caught in a loop, and they aren’t able to achieve the results they really want. When they fail to make a decision, it opens up the opportunity for more options to appear, making the decision process even more confusing.

So, how do you break the pattern and start to become an assertive decision maker?

Schedule your FREE 30 Minute Discovery Call Today!

While personal development coaching in Melbourne can help, it all starts with learning to take action.

Start being action-orientated, rather than over analysing. When we become action-orientated, we can focus on completing the action, instead of analysing all of the options available. Quickly assess your options and then GO FOR IT!

Sometimes, decisions won’t always make sense. We need to use our intuition or gut feeling, rather than overthinking every possible scenario. Even if we want the answer to be logical or rational, over analysing the situation won’t help you to achieve that.

If you start to feel stuck and the analysis paralysis starts creeping in again, you can break the cycle by breaking up your thoughts. You can’t stop overthinking by thinking about it more. Try something to change up the cycle. Go for a run, climb a mountain, walk around the block. Exercise can help to break up the analysis and forces you into your body.

Now, I can hear the resistance from some of you. You couldn’t possibly decide without thinking about it, could you?

When we waste energy on over-thinking, we aren’t left with much energy or drive to do anything else. So, instead of moving forward, we become stuck in the loop of overthinking EVERYTHING. No progress or growth can happen.

Learn to be present and in the moment.

Forget about the what-ifs; they are precisely that- WHAT IFS.

Instead, focus on only making a decision. If it isn’t the right decision, you can learn from it and make the changes you need to.

So, this week, I want you to shake it up, get out of your head and start making decisions. Life will begin to feel more meaningful, and big changes will start to happen.

If you’re feeling stuck in the analysis paralysis cycle, I can hand you a whole lot of resources to STOP IT through personal coaching in Melbourne.

Book in for a FREE Discovery call to learn how you can get your life back by finally being the decision-maker and change maker of your life.
